I’m happy to announce that my painting “The Fairy Circle,” 30″ x 36″, oil on linen, was selected as an Outside the Box Finalist in the Portrait Society of America’s 2018 Members Only Competition. It’s an honor to be chosen amongst such a group of wonderful paintings!
Starting in May, I’m teaching another session of my class, From Sketch to Finish, at the Palette & Chisel in Chicago. The class meets from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesdays over the course of 6 weeks. Throughout the class, we will work from the same model in a continuing pose with the goal of completing a finished painting by the end.
Incidentally, it’s the same method that I used to create the main oil painting featured on my flyer below, The Strings of Time, which I’m honored to announce will be exhibited in the Oil Painters of America 26th Annual National Juried Exhibition of Traditional Oils this May.

Continuing with a painting is important as a tool of study, enabling the student to see more and, in turn, paint more of what they see. With emphasis on drawing and artistic anatomy, the way the figure occupies any position will be better understood. Required Supplies: A list will be emailed to you upon registration.
